  • "What a fabulous vacation we had! I couldn't have been happier with the yoga, especially for the girls. I know they loved it! The food...what can I say? So good! You all took such great care of us, I cannot thank you enough! You have a special house with special people and we are lucky to have been a part of that, even if only for ten days! We love you!". Paula & The Girls, T
  • "I admire your vision, your practice and your hearts. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us". Blessings, Janna. "Thanks for hosting us on our 9th anniversary. I had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the practice, the music and the conversation". Mark, Arizona

  • "I'm now back to Finland & back to work, and I remember the Sewall House with great warmth. I really enjoyed my stay there - it was my most relaxing holiday ever! I loved just about everything: the food, the yoga, the beautiful house etc...Your only fault is that you are so far away! I would love to come back some day. I'm trying to do some Kundalini yoga on my own now, but I think it's nicer to do it with the group and with the great teacher - thanks Donna! I was happy to find out that some Kundalini classes are available in Helsinki. Unfortunately they are on summer break in July, so I'll just have to practise on my own for a while...Please say hello and give my thanks to Inga. She's such a great person, you are so lucky to have her there with you. Thank you for making my vacation so wonderful! I hope I will see you again. All the best!". Sanna, Ashtanga Practitioner, Helsinki, Finland

  • "I want to express my deepest gratitude for the grace and service you provided me on my yoga retreat. It was just what the Soul Doctor ordered. You are inspirations in the ways of service, whether it be in yoga classes, hikes, great food or warm company. I came to the Sewall House at a time of great personal transition and new beginnings and you literally and figuratively held my hand and got my back. I feel fully refreshed and stronger in my body and spirit than I have in a great while. You have a magical secret up in Island Falls, Maine, and I for one, am spilling the beans about it to as many people as I can! With love and appreciation to you both as well as to my sweetheart, Inga. And Westie too". Eric, NJ
  • "Thank you so much for another peaceful stay at your home. I came here from a different place this year, fortunately, but the Sewall House has still worked its magic on me. We had a blissful time and I am happy to go home feeling recharged and re-energized. I will continue my yoga practice and be ready for this last trimester and delivery of my baby girl. I Wish you all the happiness in the world. My love to you both, until next year". Julie, NY

  • "I can't thank you all enough for making this an extra special experience for me. You really made me feel like a part of your family. Everything was perfect - the yoga, the nature excursions, the food and the companionship. I got what I came for and some. I will be returning refreshed, rejuvenated and with a new, peaceful and confident perspective on life. You have successfully prepared me to weather the transformation. You have also inspired my yoga practice with new energy. I will certainly be recommending you and the Sewall House to my yoga community. I wish you all the best and am already planning my return trip. Thanks again. Love, joy and peace. Namaste". Beverly, Virginia
  • "Thank you for a wonderful stay at Sewall House. We expected a bit of yoga and rest but found much more. We're going back home with a much improved yoga and most importantly a very relaxed mind. Kent's food was delicious, every day the sound of the bell meant more surprisingly inventive and tasty food. Our hips will never be the same either, a testament to Donna's teaching skills and patience. Sewall House is a great retreat for people who are stressed yet looking to take the time to go back to the simple things that matter: great yoga practice, healthy food, beautiful environment and welcoming hosts. Thank you! Elizabeth and David, Brooklyn NY
  • "A true teacher lives what they offer to their students and selflessly draws you into the wonder of their subject with their enthusiasm and mastery of the material. Donna you are a true teacher and somewhere along our week's journey I have become a student. So much power in the simple human things, like walking barefoot and feeling the earth, feeling the resonance of your voice and its strength when added to that of others, sitting with the wind and feeling the breath as a part of it. Bless you for creating this retreat. You are a life affirming force and I am better for spending time at your table. A true musician stands before his audience and lifts his inner-self as a gift to those that hear his voice. Kent you are a true musician. You opened our minds and hearts with your music. We are the better for it. Thank you!" Charlotte and Randy, Texas

  • "Dear Donna and Kent - I am so glad you made the decision-and took the risk - to restore Sewall House to its longstanding reputation as a place of warmth and restoration - it is on so many levels a healing haven. Donna. thanks for teaching us twice a day from your heart. and Kent, I'll be looking forward to hearing more of your music. I still have - okay, forgive me if I don't get this quite right - " A New Day is Dawning" in my head and I'll be happy if I'm still humming it upon my return to NYC. With much love and gratitude". Carrie, NY City
  • "Thanks for a wonderful time at the Sewall House! Everything has been fantastic. The yoga has really helped me to find the real Mimmi, and I will continue yoga at home, I hope!! Thanks Westie for being a nice porchsitting friend and cat! See you soon!" Mimmi, Age 12, Sweden
  • "Donna: Having seen you teach/host/nurture first hand I now know that you are an inspired teacher. That word inspired seems to fit you perfectly, because you not only radiate the power and peace that comes from breathing properly, but you clearly love to introduce others to this essential practice too. This love, this passion of yours, is in the walls of this house, in the food you serve and in all the little details-like the tiny crystalline vase in the second floor bathroom that catches sunlight and holds a simple, yellow flower. I'm so grateful and really can't thank you enough. Kent, thank you for the sturdy hand behind the wheel on day trips, in the kitchen (I had no idea you are such a superb cook) and on the guitar. Your love is no less apparent here at Sewall House than Donna's and I continue to marvel at how the two of you have brought this place so glowingly back to life. Thanks, thanks and more thanks". Dan, California
  • "Thanks for the wonderful experience. Each time I come here I feel like myself again. The trip for hiking and canoeing was one of the most rejuvenating experiences I have had in a long time. It's a small peace of a huge heaven. We appreciate and thank you". Haim, Israel.
  • "HAPPY HONEYMOONING! Thats what we had here at Sewall House. A terrific group of people, fantastic food and recharging yoga!" - "Thank you and all the other guests for the warm community and friendship". Abi and Matt, New Hampshire.
  • "This was a great place to begin our new lives as husband and wife. Thank all of you for the positive energy and the many sparks of light you have given us". Lisa and Chris, Connecticut.
  • "I will be sad to leave here! This was the perfect place to celebrate our engagement, recover from our hike (Mt Katahdin) and celebrate Mike's birthday. I hope to come again! (they did!) Yummy food and great yoga too!" Liza (Kripalu Yoga teacher) and Mike, Albany, New York.
  • "Dear Sewall House, Thank you so much for this beautiful time in your exquisite home. It has helped me to become clearer about who I am, what I want and what I must do. It also has been a wonderful vacation. God bless you all". Christopher, Auburn, Maine.
  • "What a warm, welcoming, comfortable, nourishing and nurturing home. A place to rest, renew and relax. A place of history and hope, solitude and community, giving and receiving. The feelings that arise are gratitude and a desire to return". Lovingly, Lisa Yoga teacher, South Carolina.
  • "I came to Sewall House with a heavy heart and I am leaving with a heart full of love and wonderful memories of friendship, lots of laughter, incredible swims in crystal clear water and, of course, Yoga!" Marian, North Carolina.
  • "Loved the yoga, loved the location, loved the whole feel of your place. Thank you". Derek and Angela, Indiana.
  • "Coming in was a major adventure-both spiritually and distance-wise. I really had no idea what to expect but now, as I get ready to go back to the "other" coast, I feel as I've always known what it would be like here. Donna makes you feel like part of her very large family. We were treated as compatriots as opposed to just guests. This is a rare experience that I feel blessed to have had. Thank you for this time in your world". Sept 2000 Jennifer, California (Returned Sept 2004!)

  • "I journeyed here quite spontaneously. As part of the research I did before leaving for my month-long travels in New England, I came across Sewall House on the internet when looking for Yoga retreats. However, I made no contact until the day before I came. I was in Bar Harbor and felt pulled to call Donna. "Coincidentally", there was a (fall Equinox) two day retreat starting the next day. It's been a wonderful experience. Many thoughts/experiences come to mind- Donna's openness, flow, "ish" times to start yoga sessions, boat trip on the lake, calls of the loons, sharing meals around a table, stimulating conversations and the other retreatants-Laurie and Lyn, Michael and Alision, walking on a beautiful fall day, the energy and flow of Kundalini, the morning light in my room (The Four Poster), overall, the warmth of this time and the joy flowing beween us all. The last few days will stay with me...probably forever". Cheryl, California.

  • "A great teacher and a very wonderful experience. Little did I realize how deeply the yoga retreat would meet my needs-both physically and emotionally. I return with much more than when I came. But where am I bound? For this feels like leaving home. Thanks to all who made me feel so at home! Blessings and may God hold you in the palm of his hand!". Eugene, Maryland.
